Gletscherrestaurant Sonnalpin Zugspitze in Garmisch-Partenkirchen

We each had two schnitzel with fries and wheat. It tasted very good and in my opinion it was very cheap for the circumstances. I can recommend everyone to eat here if you are on the Zugspitze anyway, it's worth it.

Hello, the service was friendly. But it was extremely little going on. The food and drinks weren't that great for the price. Unfortunately it was still foggy, so you didn't have a nice view.

Plain and simple, you can't beat the scenery that this restaurant has to offer. Grab yourself a small brunch, a large beer, and enjoy the views of the Alps on top of Germany's tallest mountain!

Was in this restaurant 09/18/2020. I give three stars for the beautiful view, cleanliness and friendly staff. Unfortunately, this is where the advantages end. Most importantly, the food leaves a lot to be desired. We ordered 2 dishes: Tiroler Gröstel and Kaiserschmarrn. Both dishes looked good but were absolutely not tasty. Tiroler Gröstel - Lots of onions that have not been caramelized or properly toasted. The sausage pieces are super salty. No potatoes. No enjoyment at all. Kaiserschmarrn - dry and full of flour. These are not Kaiserschmarrn, but floured pieces of fried dough. Despite the fact that we were hungry, we could not finish eating these dishes. Wouldn't recommend. Only if you drink tea and coffee or take French fries. It's not worth spending money on something else in this restaurant.

Large restaurant and cog railway station on the Zugspitze, approx. 350 meters below the summit. Many tourists here, prices steep. But everything is there that you need. Eating and drinking okay if you want to afford it. But actually a horror, how everything was built up here. Add to that the unspeakable advertising space on Germany's highest mountain. Every mountaineer gets sick ...

Food well priced, for the monopoly! Portions are large and perfectly adequate. Self service.

Good spot for a rest

Nice place but, no matter if you have already ordered food for more than 50€, don't try to drink from your personal bottle of water at any time. Even if your lunch is done. They will complain. Weird.

The rating of this restaurant depends on what you are looking for in the mountains. As a hiker, I am not at all enthusiastic about this type of restaurant. This place has nothing of an alpine character. Consumption and being seen are in demand here. Someone who doesn't like to go into the mountains, but just wants to pose for photos in the high mountains, comes here. Reachable quickly from the summit with the glacier lift. Completely overflowing and people are handled like on an assembly line. Prices were ok.

Extremely tasty. Super fast operation. A dream for vegans too. Outstanding price-performance.

After our 1200m ascent from the Raintalangerhütte we were totally happy to arrive here. Since on the way the Knorrhütte was closed due to renovations, we were extremely thirsty. Food was really good. 4 stars because the prices were pretty decent, being almost normal in such places.

I like the place: the food looks good and the drinks are delicious. It's only a bit higher in price - probably because of the delivery to the mountain. The view totally makes up for it

Self service with traditional Bavarian dishes, soups and salads. Serving beer, coffee and tea as well. Enough indoor seating with great atmosphere in this all wooden construction. With nice weather and sunshine the best place to get a tan - or sunburn - outside on the terrace.

One of the most beautiful huts in the area with a great atmosphere and familiar offer. Despite the many guests, you can always find a place and the waiting times are normal. Reasonably priced in the lower midfield and still tasty.

Very busy place andd half the food was not available. No vegetarian choice other fries and potato soup. Unfortunately soup finished. So we survived on fries.

Not so easy to find a table at lunchtime, anything else is okay.

Great clean restaurant beautifully done in wood with a wonderful mountain view that can't be beat.

The restaurant theme was really great.... interior was too attractive ...and food was delicious too... Even the restaurant is located at that height it was not too much expensive.(usually any restaurant at tourist location will not be pocket friendly..)

Don't forget to have hot chocolate

It was more like a Mensa. Example the kaiserschmarrn was pre cooked. If you don't have anything else to eat on the zugspitze, then you can visit this place.

Worth visiting even in the summer. Accessible by train (sic!) from Eibsee or via cable from Zugspitz. Located in the center of large glacier cirque features ski and hiking station. Good to place start hiking to the summit.

Great outdoor seating area during the summer. Sit back and relax while the kids play in the snow. Just a short ride down from the Zugspitze.

The view and all is great. Not much sports/games to do here

Nice to sit around the sun and enjoy the view. For 5 stars. The quality of the food is however underground. Worst currywurst

Great restaurant, you can sit inside and outside. Outside you will be served from a glass pyramid and you will be satisfied. It's great to sit on the fur outside, warm up from the sun and have snow around you.

We only had coffee and a strudel but they where very good and reasonably priced. Generally at places like this where you don't have any options of where to eat they drive up the price and lower the quality but this was not the case here, a little pricey on the coffee but still ok. I also love that nothing is disposable, as you are in nature their objective to conserve the planet is seen through their lack of disposable packaging.

Not an everyday experience of nearly 3,000 meters high up on the day with a fine Bavarian beer in ...

Oh, the panoramas! From the beautiful weather just unrepeatable atmosphere while sitting in the garden. Quite a fair price.

Restaurant at Zugspitze mountain top. Good to have your lunch or a cup of coffee there.

A very nice place to enjoy the view with a drink and some food. Nice staff everything is fixed. May be on nice days but a lot going on.
